Good Morning, I was led to sit at a drum on the Red Lake Rez on Friday July 17 to support a guy who had a vision to dance. He came to a lodge I support near Hastings. Between rounds of singing, I wandered over to meet a guy named Mark who was sitting in a Rolls Royce and said he was from LA. "Thats my brother Dennis, I came to support him here. Sure is quiet up here in the north" I am a native of Faribault MN and my father, PH Weaver was Marlon Brando's physician when he attended Shattuck School in Faribault. Thus ensued a fun connection of story telling with Mark and me. Megwitch, Pidamiya. Wichozani! Mitakuye Oyasin. Tom W "wanagi nupa chan duta ska"

My heart aches with pain for the centuries of suffering, injustice, and denigration done to those who are Native American. In watching the PBS documentary on Wounded Knee, I was "relieved" to know that my instincts were right and there was so much more to the story than what was told and taught for years. A very good friend, who has since passed away, Joe Swearingen from Oklahoma and evenutally Chicago, IL., was Cherokee. His ancestors were on the trail of tears. He educated me greatly, this documentary took me even further.

I'm so very sorry for the countless grave injustices.
